- We propose an extended cellular array architecture for high speed image processing and present the result of evaluation of its model, called the CAP (Cellular Array Processor). In order to improve the shortcomings of the traditional cellular array architectures, the CAP has the following characteristics; overlapping of execution and I/O, modified SIMD control, reconfigurable network, flexible inter-cell communication, fire control, and so forth. The resulting architecture is expected to achieve effective execution of several types of two dimensional parallel processings and high performances on various image processings.
